| Description |
English: 'News of Trafalgar' plaque on Fish Strand Quay This plaque commemorates the arrival of Lt John Richards Lapenotiere on 4 November 1805 with news of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death in action of Admiral Lord Nelson. He left by Post-Chaise and arrived to report the news at the Admiralty some 38 hours later. There was a bi-centenary re-enactment of this journey in 2005 and commemorative plaques were erected at the horse-change posts along the route. |
