| Description | De eerste pier van Blankenberge was een gietijzeren constructie die in 1894 naar ontwerp van ingenieur E. Wyhowski werd gebouwd. De Duitsers staken de pier, een mogelijk landingshoofd voor vijandelijke troepen, op 30 oktober 1914 in brand. Na de oorlog liet het gemeentebestuur tussen 1931 en 1933 naar de plannen van Jules Soete een nieuwe betonnen pier in art decostijl bouwen. Het kopgebouw met feestpaviljoen werd tussen 1999 en 2003 grondig gerenoveerd. |
