Description
English: Two pictures showing the state before and after a photo retouche (photo manipulation) work for Wikimedia Commons. The left (original) image was uploaded from Flickr to Wikimedia Commons and shows three Hi-Fi stereo components from Swiss company Revox in a shelf. These are a reel to reel tape recorder B77 (top), a Tuner B760 (middle) and an audio amplifier B750 (below), from ca. 1977. (Note for experienced Commons-Users: This start image is an older version (actually, the first and identical to the file transferred from Flickr to Commons) of the file which is formally cited as the original work below, which is why the above "Before" work is different from both images cited below).

The right picture shows the three components after extensive work by the uploader with the photo software GIMP and (to a lesser extent) IrfanView. Works carried out were:

- removing a "ton distortion" (rounded lines which are absolutely straight in reality, mostly visible on the lowermost device) in the original image, which is quite frequent in photography and comes from the used camera. This correction was made with a software module from the (also free) plug-ins of the image viewer and manipulation freeware "IrfanView", to be found in the menu "Perspective transformations"
- removing the entire background, meaning room walls and furniture also visible in the image, around the devices
- removing the quite high shelves on which the single devices are standing, and making it appear as if the devices are stacked directly onto each other

- equalizing the exposure level (brightness) between the three devices, because the recorder on top was brightest, and the amplifier below was a bit too dark
