English: "Zander Type B-12 Adjustable Weight Ankle Unit" consists of an ornate iron flywheel attached horizontally to an extended arm atop an iron column and base mounted on an oak platform. The wheel (which has a smooth wooden handle attached perpendicularly just inside the rim) is attached through the center to an adjustable series of metal joints ending with a foot plate and U-shaped ankle rest in front. A small adjustable weight bar is attached to the front of the entire foot plate unit. All iron portions are enameled black with gilt trim. An iron bar extends the length of the top with an ornate fly wheel on one side and a lever and handle on the other. A wheelchair user placed his leg into the cushioned leg rest and places his foot on the plate, where it is secured with a leather strap and screws attached to the shoe sole. Setting the fly wheel in motion by hand, the user moves his foot so that his toe describes a circle in the air. The circle can be altered by adjusting the metal joints. No motor is necessary. P
