Summary[edit]

Description
English: The exhibition begins with over a hundred-year-old costumes worn for special rituals, characteristic of the Alian people in the village of Preslavtsi.

The female Alian costume consists of a woven embroidered blouse, trousers called "don," a pleated wool apron, and is topped with woven ribbons made of seven or nine threads. It is fastened with a belt adorned with small floral beadwork, pafti, and a heavy cloth on the head. Alians express their love for nature through the embroidered motifs on their costumes. The Alian woman does not cover her face and has equal rights with men.

The male Alian costume includes a white shirt, a belt, a sarak (a type of outer garment), and heavy gauntlets. The amount of gauntlet embellishment on the clothes sometimes indicates aristocracy.
