Description

‘RAY THE SOIL GUY’ APPEARING JULY 16 IN WEBSTER, SD

June 26, 2015 – Back to South Dakota by popular demand, “Ray the Soil Guy” will be speaking at 7 p.m. on July 16, 2015 at the Izaak Walton Building, West Highway 12, in Webster, SD.

A conservation agronomist currently in Greensboro, NC, Ray Archuleta has 25 years service with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Archuleta teaches soil health and principles of agroecology through the United States and has an international following.

Production agriculture is dependant upon the soil’s capacity to function properly. “Ray Archuleta will be sharing his understanding of what’s happening beneath our feet in an entertaining ‘Principles of Soil Health’ presentation.” says Colette Kessler, Public Affairs Specialist with the NRCS, Pierre.

“Soil is more than just a medium for growing crops and grass. It is composed of relationships of billions of living organisms. How we manage the soil has a direct correlation to the health and productivity of that soil,” explains Kessler.

The public event is made possible at no cost by support of the Day County Conservation District and the USDA NRCS.
