At the Golden Hour. Looking north toward the Santa Lucias. Just this side of the rounded hill and the Point is (depending which map you consult) Arroyo de la Laguna (Google Maps) or Arroyo de la Cruz (USGS). USGS generally names geographic features from the official Board of Geographic Names files, but Google Maps (and Apple Maps, etc) are what most folks use. Apple also uses the Laguna name, fwtw. Bother! There is indeed a large laguna at the mouth of the creek, that supports a good-size willow 'forest' and one big Monterey Cypress. The large seal-shaped objects on the blowup are indeed large Elephant seals. Has anyone figured out the logic to Flickr's photo blowup feature? This is a 10-mb photo and should blow up one more step, but doesn't. Am I missing something? |
