Distribution: A very common summer resident, occiuing rarely in winterin southern New England. General Plumage: Similar to preceding species, ^^^ birds crown darker thanback, tail a little rounded. Bill bluish, feet yellow. Lengthabout 18.00. Song and Other Notes: A loud cry, often repeated in succession. Haunts: Woods and farming lands. isjo. 8 RED TAILED HAWK. Genus: Buteo. Sp^^^- ^ b^^^^^^ Distribution: A common winter resident and migrant, but breeding uncom-monly and locally. General Plumage: . Upper parts deep brown, white marked, tail chestnut, tipped^vith white baiTcd with black, under side gray; under partswhite, marked with brown, especially across breast or belly.Bill blue black, ieet yellow. General Plumage: Similar to preceding species. Upper parts brown, markedwith white and reddish, tail black, white barred, shouldersrusty red. Immature without or with less red and black, palerwliite and ashy ; under parts white marked with tawny orfulvous. Bill bluish black, feet yellow. Length about20.00. Song and Other Notes: Kec-o, Kee-o, Kee-o. Haunts: Similar to preceding species. No. 10. BALD EAGLE. Genus: Haliajetus. Species: IL leucocephalus. Distribution; A summer resident of northern and a resident of southern New England. General Plumage: Deep brown, head and tail white. Immature with little orwhite wanting. Bill pale, feet yellow.
