The Chief of the Office Furniture Section was appointedchairman of the Sub-Committee of Standardization of ArmyDesks and Lockers, revised and prepared specifications forField Desks for Companies and Regimental Headquarters. Wrist Watches An authorization was received in this office dated December7, 1918, for 11,600 Wrist Watches of a specific make. Thesewere for overseas sale at the Canteens. The price heretofore paid for this type of wrist watch was$3.60, but this Branch arranged for the purchase of a watchof identical construction for $2.20, effecting a saving of$11,136.00 on this particular authorization.

On July 29, 1918, this Branchwas divided into two sections by H &. M Order No. 67, con-stituted as follows: Contract Preparation SectionContract Approval Section The personnel of the Contract Preparation Section numberedseventeen people, and the Contract Approval Section, sevenpeople. All Contracts, Purchase Orders, and Correspondencepertaining thereto, of the Hardware and Metals Division, wereprepared in this Branch.
