Bot[edit]

Hi @Kreuzschnabel: thanks for your comment. Please do not display extra pictures on the nomination page, because it disturbs the bot (that confuses with a set or an alternative version, and thus operates erroneously when closing). You can use a standard link. By the way, the derivative work you created has no license -- Basile Morin (talk) 01:07, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I caused confusion. I’ve never heard of that, and it’s not unusual to link alternative images within FPC nominations. Since there is one nomination page for each candidate, it should be quite clear to the bot which image is the actual candidate and which are just examples mentioned in discussion. --Kreuzschnabel 07:19, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kreuzschnabel: there's a difference between linking alternative images and adding new pictures like that. Nobody never do that here (except photographers for their own nominations, with wanted alternatives), and that's easy to verify from the archives. You're not the first person to commit the mistake : Commons talk:Featured picture candidates/Archive 20#Extra images disrupting the FPC closing process.
Concerning the alternatives, they usually are offered by the nominator (if they consent), not any lambda user (although well intentioned). Here again, that is a widespread convention, we've dealt with before in the talk page Commons talk:Featured picture candidates/Archive 22#What does mean this case of "General rules"? Concerning the license, I think you need to add {{PetarM/license}} with {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} in the page you created, like did the photographer on the original. This edit removes the bot's notification but also PetarM's personal license -- Basile Morin (talk) 09:26, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
