In 2008, I witnessed a spectacular performance of Carnatic Music, in which Nirmala Rajasekar was featured. This event took place at the United Nations, New York. The photographer Sam Hollenshead took this fabulous picture, and later gave all rights to Nirmala Rajasekar. I received permission from her to use this picture.

I don't understand why anyone would want to delete this picture. It is an accurate picture of Nirmala Rajasekar on the veena, and it is a live shot. I happen to now know Nirmala Rajasekar on a personal level, and she finds this picture to be an appropriate one to display. With great difficulty I have uploaded it twice to Wikimedia Commons, and both times someone has deleted it. I don't see why that has been done. Pictures add more information to a Wikipedia page, and it is helpful for anyone using Wikipedia to have a picture of their subject. I request whoever keeps deleting the photos to stop, or contact me with their valid reason.

Hi Goldenknitter,
as has already been explained to you on your talkpage, in image not shot by the uploader, we require proof of permission by the rights holder. If, as you wrote above, you got permission by Nirmala Rajasekar, then please mail her original permission to the email address shown in OTRS. That is standard procedure on Commons. --Túrelio (talk) 19:46, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
