Thanks for your question, Charles. Only a handful of those "Brezel-Käfer", as they are called over here, were built before the war, but never delivered. The first series was planned for 1939, but never launched until after the war. Actually there were quite a few different prototypes, for example by Porsche and NSU, in different stages of development and with different rear windows. This specimen is the only remaining one of a small series of 14 cars look here.
