Comment This dramatic view of Messier 083 is appealing. The Hubble quality is excellent. What is less clear to me me is why this image is more valuable compared to others that do not show clipping of the edges of this Hydra galaxy. Can you speak to this? --GRDN711 (talk) 18:49, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

GRDN711, Because this image is the largest in this category, and the number of pixels is also the largest in this category, What do you think? Q28 (talk) 05:10, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So first of all, you need to link the scope to the Commons category, not the gallery. I had to look at Category:Messier 83 to see every photo of the galaxy on the site. Second, the number of pixels is not really relevant at VIC; we are supposed to judge the usefulness of each photo only at review size. And that's where I'm torn, because this photo, which does not show the whole galaxy, is probably not the clearest illustration of its spiral shape. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:45, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Q28 Each of the QI-FP-VI ratings have different criteria. As Ikan mentioned, while an image of good quality is always welcomed, pixel count per COM:VICR #3 is not really relevant.
Oppose While I supported your FP nomination of this image, reluctantly, I oppose for VI in favor of this one being more valuable in showing the entire Messier 83 as a barred spiral galaxy. --GRDN711 (talk) 19:18, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
