Scope | Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope: Leucophaeus atricilla (laughing gull), first winter |
Used in | Global usage |
Reason | In some birds, we distinguish between juvenile and adult plumage and/or between breeding season/nonbreeding season plumage. Gulls (and some other species) take a few years to mature, and go through a few stages of plumage between juvenile and adulthood, which are commonly detailed in field guides: first winter, first summer, second winter, second summer (and, depending on the species, sometimes a third before adult plumage). Seems worth a VI scope to me, but curious what others think. — Rhododendrites talk | 03:30, 8 December 2022 (UTC) -- — Rhododendrites talk | |
