Reason | This field cannon was a myth during the World War One. It was celebrated ("journées du 75"), and it is said it "saved the fatherland", in many occasions. Here we have an autochrome (not a colorized image) by the famous french photographer Jules Gervais-Courtellemont. This is not for real: the soldiers posed for the photographer. Therefore we have the ideal positions of the "servants" of the cannon. Picture picked up from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and restored, it has IMO a very high historical value, for many reasons. -- Jebulon (talk) |
