Comment I don't know what to do here. Later known as “The Ellis Island of the West, in the the 1840s - 1920s Galveston was a major immigration port before Ellis Island even existed [1]. This building was build as and used as an immigration and deportee-staging facility until about 1940 when it was converted for use to a U.S. Customs Office. No category exists for its original use/purpose. Others referred to it and created the Category Custom House which is correct for its later use. Edited to add: an alternative is for me to create a new Category where this would be the only image. -- Jim Evans (talk) 12:05, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Question I don't know what's needed to resolve the issue. Do you (or anyone) have suggestions? -- Jim Evans (talk) 12:01, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "U.S. Customhouse". Doesn't that establish clearly which name the category and scope should be under? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:03, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
