Charles de Bourbon (1848-1909)
Reason Very difficult restoration for a portrait of an interesting person. Carlos, Duke of Madrid (1848-1909), Don Carlos de Borbón y de Austria-Este, was the carlist claimant to the throne of Spain (Carlos VII), and at the same time the legitimist claimant to the throne of France (Charles XI), as the elder male heir of the Capetian dynasty. He did not success, neither to conquer the spanish throne (in spite of several wars), nor to be seriously recognized as "king" of France. This photograph is by Nadar (photographer), restored (with many difficulties) by me. The original can be seen as first upload, as I usually do, for comparison. Best in scope IMO, due to size and rework. No geocode, it is a studio work. And remember: smoking kills ! -- Jebulon (talk)
