Sunrise in Skole Beskids National Nature Park
  • Hmm, interesting point Basile Morin. I definitely agree with you about some of the other pictures you link to - 1 for instance has a quite ridiculous sky. I don't think this one is so overcooked though. I had a look at this image in Jeffrey Friedl's Image Metadata Viewer and I can't find any evidence of the saturation being altered, although of course there are ways to change saturation that won't show up in the metadata. Overall I have seen sunsets in my life that have colours as vivid as this one, so personally I'm not going to say that this saturation is ridiculous. But you do make a good point when looking at some of the other images by this user. Any feedback from other users about whether the saturation is too much would be appreciated. • Obviously  Overprocessed. @Cmao20: you agree with me the #1 is oversatured, don't you? Well, check it out with Jeffrey Friedl's Image Metadata Viewer and you read "saturation 0". Logic? No. Because it is undeniably too saturated. This tool is useful to indicate what has been changed, but it does not show everything on Photoshop, and especially not the filters applied. Here I suspect blue and orange filters. Moreover, with your candidature, you can read from Jeffrey Friedl's Image Metadata Viewer blacks +88%! whites -64%, and shadows +48% with highlights -89%. That combination creates extreme contrast with heavy blacks -- Basile Morin (talk) 02:12, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • You're right, I didn't think to check the other image too. Blacks +88% is certainly a little much in pumping up the contrast. I shall wait for some more opinions, as I have seen considerably less natural-looking photos than this pass FPC, but we may withdraw this one. Cmao20 (talk) 02:44, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • 💡 A golden rule, if you really need to attenuate the highlights to render a sunrise or a sunset, then compensate this loss by increasing the whites, delicately. Not the contrary! . And not with the blacks in addition to force the impression like a tank 🦾 :-) But I agree with you it's not the first one nominated like this, and sometimes yes they even go promoted (feel free to give links so that we can compare). I just hope this one won't :-) and I also give the uploader a chance to make it better -- Basile Morin (talk) 03:30, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
