•  Oppose For a picture of a domestic cat to be featured, it would have to be really outstanding. This is a nice composition, but the cat is not particularly sharp, so it's not a really outstanding picture that would make it one of the greatest on the site. The sour-looking facial expression of the senior cat also makes it less than wowing to me, though others could well disagree. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:40, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

•  Moral support This is a very moving photo, it makes me feel deep sympathy for the old and probably ill cat. It also has high documentary value, and you can even interpret this as an allegory on the poor life of ordinary people in Russia many countries … This makes this photo much more valuable than 99% of the countless pretty cat photos from the web. Of course, as Yann as stated, the technical quality is the crux. For “ordinary” subjects we usually require excellent technical quality. But personally I have the strange feeling that even the limited technical quality is apt in this case: It would be tasteless to paint misery in bright colours and with mannerist brushwork, so I also can’t require brilliant photos of a poor old cat. --Aristeas (talk) 08:09, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
