Polarlys is a long time contributor at the German Wikipedia, where he has been an administrator since last year. He has ~27.000 de.wp edits, and does a lot of maintenance work both there and here at the Wikimedia Commons. He handles a lot of image related stuff on de.wp, and is moving a lot of images over to Commons.

Admin rights will be handy for Polarlys, as I notice that German users are asking him for assistance thinking that he is an admin here as well ([1]). He has also been asking other admins to delete clear copyvios, which really is unnecessary when he can be an admin himself.

Polarlys has been active in deletion discussions the last four moths or so, and he knows about the legal basis of this project. I especially like that he never says {{Vk}} of {{Vd}} without presenting a sensible rationale, and that he is using facts, not feelings when discussing copyrights. Commons needs more users like Polarlys.

In addition to German, Polarlys knows English reasonably well, in addition to some Norwegian and French. Kjetil r 22:59, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • No, it is not necessary to vote comment with this template, we don't have bots that count things. It's just fun, so many of us do it... Just voicing your opinion in a way that is understandable is all you need to do. However, see Category:Polling templates for other fun templates you can use . Many of them are in other languages, the original idea was that you select a template in your language and it's visually obvious what your view is regardless of the wording.
