I want to nominate Denniss to administrator position. This user is long term contributor whose hall of fame includes organizing Category:Aircraft and detecting many copyvios from http://www.airliners.net. Indeed, I could miss something :-) --EugeneZelenko 16:07, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If I get the honour of becoming an admin I will focus on deleting copyvios and I will try to check and clean out the images tagged as unknown license/source for a long time. There's a lot of work to be done there. --Denniss 21:51, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Support as nominator. --EugeneZelenko 16:07, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Neutral -- I don't see the immediate need for more German speaking admins. As a person though, I have the impression that Denniss is a serious and reliable person who would use the admin privileges for good purposes. / Fred Chess 18:38, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose --Strongly Oppose. I refer folks to an instance of his practices evidenced on this topic where a half dozen users have been forced to engage in reversion wars with him-User_talk:Denniss/Archive_1#Removing_images_from_categories. DennisS is a valuable member of Commons and has made significant contributions. It is good for folks like DennisS to champion a POV, even when it is at odds with even a majority of others. However the method he deals with disputes is ill suited for those in the position of an admin. For example, he is at odds with the majority of Commons contributors on the contentious issue of whether an image should be a member of ANY category if the image is also part of a gallery article. There is no concensus on a policy but a 2 to 1 majority favors some role for categories on image pages. Here is the link to the discussion on this issue. Ok fine- taking a particular position does not disqualify anyone from being an admin. What is pertinent is whether we want folks that conduct themselves on issues this way to have Admin powers. Despite the fact the categories vs. articles conversation resulted in a live and let live outcome, he has sought to impose his own POV. He has stripped images of all of their categories, then nominated the now emptied categories for speedydelete since they were empty. With adminstrator powers, he could and I suspect would- simply delete them. He has done this not just with my contributions but those of many others. Particularly alarming, in response to my many calls for dialog, as well as those of others, he responds simply with further mass reversions. I strongly oppose his nomination for adminstratorship until such time as he demonstrates a respect for the opinions of others, and a willingness to enter into dialog, and evidence of good faith to seek compromise with those he disagrees. -Mak 19:14, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • What a surprise, another personal attack from this category fanatic, his sole work in the Commons is dupliating article content into categories without keeping them both synchronized. I only reverted those changes duplicating articles into categories though I should have stayed away from this stupid editwar. It is also a common rule in all wikis if an Admin is involved in a conflict he should not use his powers to fight the other side. --Denniss 21:51, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, I have a great deal of respect for you DennisS, and I am indebted to you for the work you have contributed here. I apologize if you took it as a personal attack. I am opposed not because of your personality, or your positions. I would oppose even if you were a friend and held the same POV as myself. I think your conduct with the multiple users who complained of your tactics on your talk page about your category blanking (see reference above) provides ample evidence of the areas of growth needed before you are entrusted with administrative powers. -Mak 22:53, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
