This proposed RFA is now closed. Please do not make any edits to this archive.
Support = 25; Oppose = 0; Neutral = 1. This vote meets the 75% requirement and therefore passes. User:Cool Cat is now a sysop. Cary "Bastiq▼e" Bass demandez 20:27, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Commons is like swamp - many of us are going inside and inside and we simply sunk in the work. We need fresh blood in sysop tribe :) Someone who want to help, who doesn't fear work, and who will try to do her best. I know Cool Cat from IRC channel of Commons, she was helping us on pl.wiki and I think, that she will be very goodd admin.... For people wanting to vote: remember that we are on Commons, we are fighting for future of Commons', not xyz.wiki, so please focus on Commons carrier of candidate.
Cool Cat do you accept my nomination? --WarX 07:55, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment... I feel I must elaborate my support. I believe that sysop is not that big a deal, and we should empower people who are willing to do the work. I also feel that Cool Cat is mature enough to put certain POV opinions he has aside in order to do that work. We all have our own POV's, which doesn't keep us from being good sysops. - Support for the free donuts. I haven't dealt with Cool Cat much, but the few times I have this cat was polite and friendly to me. Happily, Commons seems to have far fewer politicial problems than other wikis. ~Kylu (u|t) 04:14, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Support (squeaking in under the deadline) Oh what the heck... I have my reservations (as you can tell from the questions I asked) but CC clearly wants to help, and I think CC will get lots of guidance if he (yes, CC is a he, AFAIK) goes off the rails. If not... Questions
- I noticed you have nominated Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:Kurdistan_rojname.gif for deletion, wit the reason that it is a low quality image. Yet this image may be the only one available, and the image is used in several projects to illustrate articles. In your response you said that you felt it was "merely decorative". Is decorative not a good reason to keep things? could ou explain your thinking on this more? Admins often are going to have to make the image deletion decision. Do you think you will be able to do so in an NPOV way (we don't have as strong a tradition of NPOV but it's still a valid consideration...) even if the images relate to topic areas you have views on? ++Lar: t/c 14:42, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- About my nomination:
- I just feel image is very low in quality. I believe we all agree on that. I further feel it should be deleted for that reason. Let me elaborate by what I ment by "decorative":
- My userpage displays a white cat. Throughout wikimedia that is my "profile" photo. It is currently being used in a decorative manner. However the picture however displays a number of charactersitics of the feline species and hence the image is informative. It can be used in an article on wikipedia or her sister projects for that purpose. I can't think of a usefull aspect of Image:Kurdistan_rojname.gif . It is mere junk to me.
- Uploader of that image, Diyako (talk · contribs), has a history of uploading copyrighted images. Furthermore Diyako and his sockpuppets have been banned from en.wikipedia for a year by arbcom. In the light of all that, I had been reviewing all of Diyako's uploads for potential problems. Some of them include these. So I didn't just nominate it out of random.
- What I would not do is to speedy delete that particular image since it doesnt appear to be a copyvio.
- I just feel image is very low in quality. I believe we all agree on that. I further feel it should be deleted for that reason. Let me elaborate by what I ment by "decorative":
- I do not have other reasons for that particular nom.
- I am not certain what part of NPOV applies to this particular image as it is neither contraverisal nor remotely offensive. Infact it is so low in quality, it cant be contraversial as its illegable.
- --Cat out 20:32, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Do you think it would have been better to mention these items (about the user) in the original nomination? I'm still not clear on why an image that is used in articlespace in multiple wikis is "decorative". I guess why I ask this is that I need to be comfortable that your judgement is sound, and that when you are asked to explain things, you can do so in a clear and thoughtful manner. ++Lar: t/c
- Even if the uploader is a problematic user, his positive contributions should be kept. I omited the details about him because I did not feel it would be relevant to that particular deletion discussion since that image isnt violating copyrights.
- I think weater or not an image is used is not a part of deletion criteria. That image is been only used in 3 places (IIRC). Twice in en.wikipedia and once in de.wikipedia. At none of the location does image help explain the topic covered.
- I am not going to get indulged in a deletion discussion here. If you would like to discuss spesifics about that, lets do so on the deletion nom page.
- --Cat out 00:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- About my nomination:
- Could you discuss why you think your two previous runs at commons admin failed? Do you think there were lessons there for you? If so what were they and how have you changed your approach to things? ++Lar: t/c 14:42, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, frankly speaking I feel some of the "oppose" reasons especialy on the second nom has nothing to do with commons and some were even outright incivil. I feel such reasons are a bit unproductive.
- For instance the fair use thing. Simply put, fair-use is not welcome here in commons. I never stated anything to the contrary. Hence I have not changed my approach.
- As per personal policy I try to imrpove myself regadless of the circusmtances. This is a continious process so I do not believe I can be spesific. Do you have a spesific concern about me?
- --Cat out 20:32, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I have a number of concerns but I can't put my finger on them specifically. How you answer these questions would help assuage those concerns. I'll ask again, was there anything useful you got out of either of the previous two noms? Anything at all? Even one reason that you took on board and learned from? How about some of your opposes at en:wp for past runs at admin there? Again, I'm looking for something that will get me beyond these vague (and basically unfair!) feelings of unease. Help me out here, help me feel good about your nom. Here's another tack... why do yo uwant to be an admin here? ++Lar: t/c 22:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I will regretfully decline to properly answer that. I can gladly answer spesific points, but I cant make general remarks about the past rfas as I feel I have been treated somewhat unjustly in them. I will however say this: I try to edit wikipedia in good faith trying to make it a better place. Since the start of my wiki-experience some one and a half year ago I faced some rather overwhelming odds. Most notable one was the dedicated harrasment/stalking I recieved from a user. The positive aspect of that very negative experience is that I feel it made me more capable in dealing with disruptive users. If you have any doubt about me, please do not hesitate to ask any time. You can do this on my talk page if you like or even email. Let there be no doubts. :)
- Why do I want to be an admin? I am tired of staring at various backlogs. I also heard commons admins get free donuts on wikimanias. :P
