Free as in freedom or gratis?[edit]

"Free" has two meanings. We should specify for each logo whether it means free as is freedom or gratis (i.e. available for no price). Some of the software in this category is free as in freedom, but all of it is not. For example, a lot of Linux distro logos are listed here, but only 11 Linux distros are considered free, and many of those listed here are not considered free. —Kri (talk) 22:43, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

For the distribution of GNU/Linux, the meaning is different, the FSF list means "100% free software distros", but Debian is also known as a free software project, so there is no problem here. For proprietary software, we can add the Category:Software logos (SVG) for now. genium ⟨✉⟩ 23:56, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2020-04-12 move request[edit]

Like Category:Software logos (SVG), the name of this category is inconsistent with other SVG logo categories, which use names like "SVG foo logos" or "SVG logos of foo". I don't think this category would have the same syntactic ambiguity problems as SVG software logos, so moving it to Category:SVG free software logos makes the most sense. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 17:47, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Thanks for the hint, user:AntiCompositeNumber!--Estopedist1 (talk) 06:02, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
