Hi - you uploaded the above image and tagged it as GFDL - in the french WP however it is tagged as fair use - the commons do not accept fair use images. If you copy images from another wiki, please make sure you maintain the appropriate license status. Best copy all information provided with the image there. Also, if you copy images under the GFDL or a CC-by-license, make sure to name the author as those licenses require you to do. Failing to attribute the creator of the image is a copyright violation. Thanky you. -- Duesentrieb 17:23, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for my mistake. In the meanwhile, I no longer need this picture - could you please remove is from Commons, if you havn't already done so? Thank you. Volland 06:26, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Volland. Could you upload the permission email you got, say to User:Volland/Niven permission email, just so other people can read it? (Remember to remove identifying stuff from the headers!) I'm concerned that although there's permission to distribute the picture, there might not be permission to modify or sell it. Thanks. Dbenbenn 16:15, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Done. As you can see, all he said was "use my picture", so to be honest, I just assumed he wouldn't mind. You can interpret his response how you see fit and change the license tag. Just let me know beforehand. Thanks, Benjamin Shlevich 20:14, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC).
On User:Chris 73's talk page I see you put the following:
- Hello. You tagged this image as PD, saying "There are no usage restrictions for this photo." However, on the site itself, bellow the photo, it says "© 2000-2004 Dream Interactive. All rights reserved.". I think this picture should be promtly removed
You should note that the copyright at the bottom of the page is for the website itself and not the photo. The photo has the following notice: "There are no usage restrictions for this photo." Photos can be tagged there in various ways, that particular tag says anyone can use it for any reason without asking. 172.167.47.81 04:51, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
You've uploaded a derivative work | We're sorry, but Image:Frank Zappa Bust.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content, that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Photographs of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this photo must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama.
The file you added will soon be deleted. If you believe this image is not a derivative work, please explain why on the image description page.

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Volland. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Volland~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
