Autopatrolled filemover

[edit]

With 55 valid rename requests, I decided to make you a filemover. I also made you autopatrolled. Anything so long as I don't have to see any more monkeys! ;) INeverCry 21:43, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I had a lot of monkeys! Actually, I think I've got about 150 more on my phone. ;) Thanks anyway! Thine Antique Pen (talk) 06:06, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
For your endless work to cleanup files moved from en-wiki to Commons I think you deserve this barnstar! --MGA73 (talk) 16:56, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yay, thanks! :D Thine Antique Pen (talk) 17:10, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read COM:OVERCAT

[edit]

Please read COM:OVERCAT. It makes no sense to copy all the birds of London zoo in the parent category too; the parent category becomes pretty useless like that. --Foroa (talk) 07:56, 28 September 2012 (UTC). --Foroa (talk) 07:56, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removing categories

[edit]

If you remove a file from a topic category, please make sure that the file is sorted to a more specific category. E.g. File:West Loch Tarbert Hotel and houses from Kilberry road. - geograph.org.uk - 120860.jpg (your last edit) renmoves the file from the only usefull topic category, defacto the file now is an orphan file. The last days you gave Cat-a-lot a try and used it for thousands of edits, regretably there are too many mistakes in your usage of cat-a-lot. The only chance to bring those orphaned files back in the category tree is to revert all your edits of the last days. You cant do such edits with this tool. --Martin H. (talk) 19:25, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Entirely sorry for this. Could a mass rollback or something similar be performed? Thine Antique Pen (talk) 00:19, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I not know such option. --Martin H. (talk) 03:03, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pay attention to copyright
File:Four Seasons Hotel, Washington, D.C. - Night.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Versace1608

[edit]

Re: Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Versace1608 - based only on the fact that File:Iyanya_at_MTV_Base_Nigeria_Top_10_Show.jpg does not appear on the Internet and that this editor appears to be promoting this artist (among others) on the English Wikipedia, it's likely he either is the photographer of the Iyanya photo or knows the photographer and that he knows the artist. It's also likely that he knows the copyright owners of some or all of the images he has uploaded. For those images that don't meet non-copyright-related deletion criteria (e.g. out of scope, etc.), it's my hope that the uploader will use the discussion period to get the true copyright owner to release these under a free license.

On the other hand, if the copyright owners do not want others to create derivative works or re-use the work or derivative works commercially, he will not agree to a Commons-compatible license. I can just see someone who doesn't like Iyana's music taking one of the images from the Commons, slapping a symbol on it, and using the resulting image commercially. If the license for the Commons image included an attribution requirement that would be ironic. Davidwr (talk) 00:02, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean; the uploader needs to participate in the DR. Thine Antique Pen (talk) 10:29, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
File:Face-devil-grin-flipped.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
