Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:50, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

File tagging File:La_partie_de_cartes,_1972_-_130x162cm_(100F).jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:La_partie_de_cartes,_1972_-_130x162cm_(100F).jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

I corrected the source - the file is not entirely own work but an reproduction of someone else work - and the author, the main author is not the reproducer but the painter. Questionable is if the painter respectively all heires agreed to license this reproduction under a free license as required, this should be confirmed in written from the copyright holder(s). Just to prevent misunderstandings: Owning the pictures does not mean that someone owns the intelectual property rights, that authors rights will expire 50 years following the authors death in case of a painter from Japan, see COM:L#Japan. All problems, incomplete source and incorrect author and missing evidence of permission have all uploads of you.
Additional questions have been answered at Commons:Help_desk#change the title. --Martin H. (talk) 16:23, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Please use right category names
[edit]I have seen that you use non-existing names in French for categories. I changed for example the one of Le métro, Circa 1972 - 73x92cm (30F). Please look at Category:Paintings from Japan to find the right ones for your contributions. Thanks. Wouter (talk) 07:39, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Again: Use existing category names please
[edit]I have seen that you put images in the non-existing category "Japanese Painter in Paris". I have created the Category:Akira Tanaka. But I question whether the license is OK see the comment with File:La partie de cartes, 1972 - 130x162cm (100F).jpg. Wouter (talk) 07:35, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
