Screenshots

[edit]

Please note that screenshots are sadly almost always subject to copyright, and thus ineligible for uploading to commons - I have tagged File:Tony Allen Young Ones.jpg for deletion accordingly. AndyTheGrump (talk) 21:08, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

https://blip3.com/ I was Tony Allen's producer of the Performance Club at Smithy's Kings Cross from 1995 to 1999. The pics are from my personal collection an I own the portrait shown there. The Young Ones Picture is in the public domain. Please give it a break because my dear old friend Tony deserves all the recognition he can get for his contribution to my life and the 100s of other performers he influenced of his vast career. Do you have something personal against this gentleman? Markshorey (talk) 21:43, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, I have nothing whatsoever against Tony. From my limited acquaintance with him, I thought he showed much to be admired, and in a small way, consider him a positive influence on my life. That doesn't however alter the fact that regardless of Tony's anarchist politics, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, have to respect intellectual property rights until such times as getting sued for copyright infringement isn't a thing. As for the Young Ones picture being in the public domain, that seems unlikely - the BBC tends to be rather keen on enforcing its rights on such matters. As for the portrait, if you actually took the photo, and are willing to release it into the public domain, fine. I'd recommend that when you do so in future you make this clear: it was anything but, given that you wrote 'Photo Armand King Wang' while stating that it was your own work. I am a licensed journalist (CIoJ) and know the law of copyright extensively. I knew and worked with Tony on many different projects. You are warring over edits and clearly breaking the rules of Wiki. I can report you but I don't have the time in my job over such a trivial matter. Username Andythegrump more less explains your motivation. You are being abusive and I plead with you to leave me alone. No further correspondence will be entered into. Markshorey (talk) 23:06, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note that I have now also nominated File:Tony Allen 1999.jpg for deletion, as no evidence has been given that the image is public domain. AndyTheGrump (talk) 21:34, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your online abuse. User name Andythegrump pretty much says it. Leave it out and go to bed. Markshorey (talk) 21:51, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
