I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:East Ridgecrest, CA.jpg. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.

Your mail

[edit]

Hello JMBeggs74, I hope you don't mind when I answer you here. Mails are usually only necessary, when the content is confidential or of a private nature. Using talkpage messages, other interested editors can follow the discussion (and chime in to help if necessary). To your question: there are methods to transfer images from other contributors (via mail and OTRS verification), but that approach isn't any easier or quicker. It's really best to upload the image yourself - I'll try to clarify the basic steps to upload an image:

  1. Save the image somewhere on your local hard disk, (ideally it should be a high resolution image with EXIF, but other self-taken photos are OK aswell).
  2. Click on Special:UploadWizard and follow the questions and instructions step by step (you can always go "back" in the first steps, when you misclick somewhere).
  3. Select a unique clear filename for your photo to be stored on Commons.

Once the image is uploaded, you'll need to link it within the English Wikipedia article. Feel free to post on User talk:GermanJoe or here when the image is uploaded, and I can assist you with this final step. If you have further questions just send me a message, and I'll be glad to help. Hello JMBeggs74, I have replaced the infobox image in English Wikipedia with your photo and adapted the caption accordingly. You can see the exact change in this link: [1]. Hope that helps. Please be so kind to use the talkpages here on Commons (or on en-Wiki for Wikipedia-specific issues) if you need further help. It is a lot more convenient and transparent. Best regards.
