Transcontinental country

[edit]

Can you please not have double standards and take care of Ankara just like you did with Baku? Thanks. --E4024 (talk) 21:15, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

According to the record, Istanbul is the transcontinental capital of Turkey just as Baku is for Azerbaijan. But Istanbul is not the political capital of Turkey, it is Ankara. For Ankara to be transcontinental, the country should be politically in the European Union (EU), as in the case of Cyprus, or it should be recognized as a culturally European country by the EU, like Amenia, Georgia or Greenland. The case of Turkey is exactly the same as that of Kazakhstan (a transcontinental country but with its political capital, Nur-Sultan, in Asia), but it is not the same as that of Russia (a transcontinental country with its political capital, Moscow, in Europe). --Edmodok (talk) 20:41, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks very intellectual but does not explain how capitals in Africa -for example in Canary Islands- got into Europe. With "culture" I'm sure you refer to religion and should not speak a word to you for that reason, but as I opened the discussion -as always, while others just impose and sit down- I am responding. Almost a third of Europe -if not more- is covered with countries that separated from Turkey. Simply say you want to push Turks back to Central Asia and I will aprreciate that. (BTW Istanbul is not capital of Turkey, do not invent new things while destroying others.) E4024 (talk) 21:33, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Istanbul is not the capital of Turkey but it is still a capital of a province of the same country. From what I have read, more than a geographical doubt you are accusing of racism for no reason. For your information, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina are Muslim-majority countries and are fully in Europe. So don't use religion as an excuse. The case of the Canary Islands is irrelevant because Spain is a member country of the EU and it is totally evident that the citizens of these islands are included within European law by the EU itself (not at a geographical level but at a political and social level). --Edmodok (talk) 17:55, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I did not use the word racism, but for some reason you did. Istanbul is a province and metropollitan city, and the city has the same borders with the province; therefore it (either the former or the latter) is not the capital of the other or of anything else. Bosnia and Herzegovina or Albania of course are totally out of this discussion as they are not transcontinental countries. Spain is a transcontinental country like Turkey and both the Islas Canarias and the two autonomous cities in Northern Africa are in Africa. You understood me very well but insist... I will not disturb you again. --E4024 (talk) 18:28, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand why you call the autonomous cities of Spain in Africa "capitals" but you don't consider Istanbul "capital". Yes, Spain is a transcontinental country but not like Turkey (Spain has autonomies and not districts like Turkey). In addition, the political capital of Spain is Madrid and it is in Europe. Spain is not even considered a country as part of Africa. And that is the last time you accuse a user of racism just like that. At no time have the Turks been insulted or discriminated against in the editions of the record. --Edmodok (talk) 20:44, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
