hi, i totaly agree with the reupload of the image, the old filename File:233781522 30a7df868f.jpg was a very bad filename. But: please make sure, that you upload the highest quality from Flickr, the image is available in different resolutions, please allways select the original size. I dont know who this lq image with a bad name could survive 2 years at Commons, but it is now fixed ;). --Martin H. (talk) 13:46, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Please note...
[edit]...that this concerns you. Ed Fitzgerald (talk) 04:26, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- Could you please explain yourself? — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 04:59, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
No personal attacks
[edit]Desist in making personal attacks upon other editors, such as the ones you have made against myself and Ed Fitzgerald at this page and this page. It is non-productive, incivil, rude and most importantly, against user behavior policy. If you cannot comment upon the discussion without attacking other editors, perhaps it would behoove you to stop participating. Wildhartlivie (talk) 07:44, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed that this is unacceptable behaviour. Discuss content, not the contributor, and avoid making statements about others that refer to their personal situation, whether true or false, that you do not know for certain they are OK with you making. Please make an accounting of yourself, and an undertaking not to continue, at Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems#Personal_attack.3F, or here on this talk page, before you make any other edits or you will be blocked. ++Lar: t/c 15:59, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi, please use the highes quality version to make copped versions, the 247×488 px version you uploaded was a massive loss in quality. I cropped it a bit more because this microphone rack is in focus of the image, it is not a very good image because of this. I hope thats ok, if not please revert to the corrected version of your crop. I dont know why or which program you used to crop the image: The camera metadata was lost. This is also a quality thing you please pay attention on. --Martin H. (talk) 07:01, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- again the info: File:Kellie Pickler 2008-12-17 cropped.jpg, cropped versions are very useful for articles, but please use the largest resolution for this editing. Please use the "save target" function of your browser to save the image and not the "save image" function which saves the thumbnail. --Martin H. (talk) 22:57, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Deletion requests
[edit]If you nominated files for deletion, it is established practice, not to mention just plain courtesy, to advise the uploader. You've listed File:Diana Wynyard in The Prime Minister trailer.jpg for deletion and it would have been appreciated if you had let me know. Please do this in future. Also, this is not an obvious case of copyright violation. It should have been listed by using delete. Thanks Rossrs (talk) 22:03, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
File:Pickler,_Kellie_(2007)_2._cropped.JPG has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:48, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Image:Randy Graff.jpg is uncategorized since 30 June 2009.
- Image:Pamela Des Barres, July 2007.jpg was uncategorized on 18 August 2009.
Whats the purpose of this upload? The crop is not even good, its in a total uncommon format. The whole image is, sorry, trash, the original is much better and serves it purpose to show nude people posing on a nudist beach. --Martin H. (talk) 03:43, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Rather the original image is not so good, its in a total huge format. I believe the crop is much better and serves it purpose to show only nude woman posing on a nudist beach. --Dml (talk) 04:03, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Its out of context, out of format... provide quality please, dont crop nude pictures just to crop nude pictures. Remember, that every copy you create is a copy that will stay here forever, and such copies like File:At the nudist beach crop.jpg are a shame if you are interested in having good quality images of nudity. --Martin H. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Dml. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Dml~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation

File tagging File:Molly Neuman at Cake Shop NYC.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Molly Neuman at Cake Shop NYC.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Molly Neuman at Cake Shop NYC.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
