Transferring files form enWP
[edit]When transferring files from English Wikipedia it is very important that you bring over all the information, and especially do not change the meaning on licensing on the work. Adding works as CC0 when they are US government works is incorrect. Also there are import tools to bring files from the wikis to Commons, and they are very helpful making it easier and more exact. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:18, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for the email. I try to undertake admin business openly, so here rather than back by email. BTW nothing to be "sorry" about; I could tell that you were new, and I was leaving text to (hopefully) assist. Plus wanted to get in before you did many more as this sort of thing shows up in the logs. If you think that you will be occasionally transferring more files have a look at toollabs:commonshelper as it makes the whole process easier at both Commons and whichever wiki from where the file is being transferred.
It took me a little while to track down the file as the filename changed .JPG -> .jpg when uploaded here. As you saw I have updated the file detail, and that looks cleaned up. Happy editing. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:28, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
- BTW if you want to get someone's attention online then you can use the template {{Ping}} and that will show up in a users notifications (icons next to your username). Like @David Nartkoshvili: which means that you can get someone's attention if they leave you a message. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:30, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
- Umm, just edit your user talk page. The "talk" link in the header line with should be nice and orange to identify that someone has left you a message. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:11, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
