English: RRS Discovery built in 1901. Its first mission was the British National Antarctic Expedition also known as the Discovery Expedition, carrying Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton on their first, successful journey to the Antarctic (1901-1904). In 1923, the Crown Agents for the Colonies purchased her for further research work in the Antarctic.
