English: Jan Cock Blomhoff (Amsterdam Aug. 5, 1779 - Amersfoort Aug. 15, 1853) was during the period 1817 - 1824 director ("opperhoofd") of Decima, the Dutch trading colony in the harbour of Nagasaki, Japan.
When he came to Decima (nowadays mostly written: Dejima) he was accompanied by his wife Titia, hist little son Johannes, and Petronella Munts, a Dutch nurse-maid. The ladies and the little Johannes were not allowed to stay in Japan. But in the short time they stayed there, they were often painted by Japanese artists, who had never seen European ladies.
