- Giuseppe Sirtori (Monticello Brianza 1813 – Roma 1874), patriota comasco, fu prete, poi fervido repubblicano e combattente alla difesa di Venezia nel 1849. Capo di Stato Maggiore di Giuseppe Garibaldi lungo l’intera spedizione dei mille. Come generale nel Regio Esercito combatté con valore a Custoza e fu cinque volte deputato.
