Building ownership

[edit]

Is there a reference (or official placard) to support the statement that Wright brothers "owned" the building at 22 S. Williams? This isn't an article, but the statement seems questionable--not aware of support for it in any published or online biographies and articles. DonFB (talk) 04:44, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Still waiting for a response to this question. Without some evidence to support the ownership statement, I'll change the file description to remove it. DonFB (talk) 03:37, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember where I found it, but I've seen it somewhere; evidence of absence is not absence of evidence. Nyttend (talk) 18:50, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Somewhere" over the rainbow, no doubt.

I refer you to:

Absence of research is not evidence of correctness. DonFB (talk) 18:01, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I invite you to post a url on this page or specify a specific title or name of a source or document that you're relying upon. I also invite you to look at the thoroughly researched document I've linked on this page, if you haven't, since you claim there is "still no evidence". Read the document; it even specifies how much money they paid in rent each month. Therefore, I'm restoring information in the image File Description which I believe to be accurate, based on the National Park Service document which I've linked here, in contrast to your unsupported information, which I believe to be completely mistaken. Perhaps you're thinking of one of these webpages:

http://tps.cr.nps.gov/nhl/detail.cfm?ResourceId=1956&ResourceType=Building

OR

http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/oh/Montgomery/state3.html

The relatively scant information on these pages cannot compare to the NPS pdf history document which I linked above. Furthermore, if one or both of these pages are what you had in mind, neither one of them supports the mistaken "facts" that you're clinging to. The NPS history document which I linked above is not the "official" NRIS record, but contains ample and fully researched evidence to support the changes I've made to the image File Description, and zero evidence to support the serious mistakes in your original text. Turning to a nitpicky issue, the photo you took strongly features the side of the building, not the front, as can be seen in this NPS photograph: http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/aviation/Buildings/daa1.jpg and this one: http://tps.cr.nps.gov/nhl/nhl-images/OHWrightBikeShop.jpg DonFB (talk) 09:43, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Or perhaps you've been thinking of this document:

http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Text/86000236.pdf

Which also confirms everything I have written and contradicts what you've written about the year of the building's construction and your mistaken idea that the Wrights were the building's owners. I could probably go on, but hopefully you're getting the idea by now. Abundance of evidence is abundance of evidence. DonFB (talk) 11:30, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
