Two major problems with this map

1. Zero values should be an apex between the positive and negative countries to ease understanding. For example, make zero grey and tend towards black as it goes negative, while positive moves towards a bright green.

2. Green and Red are NOT to be on a map. Color blindness is a common detriment to many. This is a fundamental rule of mapmaking.

I may update this map when I get access to GIS applications.

Misleading

This map makes it look like the US population is shrinking but it is probablly growing faster than the rest of the world. See Demographics of the United States:

"Long term, the U.S. growth rate is projected to surpass that of the world at large, per Census Bureau projections of 439 million in 2050,[10] which is a 46% gain from 2007. However, the United Nations projects the U.S. population to grow from 306 million in 2007 to 402 million in 2050, an increase of 32%, less than the world's 38%.[11]"
