Colors should be reversed

Calculation & Data

I am really interested in this image but have a hard time really understanding whats happening here and what is really behind it. Here is what I think is happening, please correct me if I am wrong:

  • Population of each country is concentrated into a single weighted point at its center
  • The mean of these weighted points is calculated
  • The distances from every point on earth to this mean point via geodesic arcs is calculated
  • The distances are visualized via color

IF this is what happened here, then the description is wrong. "Now red means more population density and blue means less." No density is visible in the image, the color just transports distances. --Pizzaschneider (talk) 09:27, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
