View of St. Christopher Bastion, the Sacra Infermeria and St. Lazarus Curtain

@Continentaleurope: I think that this image does not show Fort Ricasoli, but rather a view of Valletta and the entrance to the Grand Harbour from Ricasoli. The lighthouse on the right is the St. Elmo Lighthouse which was demolished in 1940. The bastion in the centre of the image is St. Christopher Bastion, with the Barriera Stores on the left and the Sacra Infermeria overlooking St. Lazarus Curtain on the right. Compare these with the image attached (particularly the sloping St. Christopher Bastion).

The echauguette on the extreme left of the image is the only part of Ricasoli visible in this image. It was demolished in the 19th or 20th centuries when gun emplacements were constructed within the fort. Therefore, the viewpoint of the image is approximately 35°53′55.4″N 14°31′25.9″E / 35.898722°N 14.523861°E / 35.898722; 14.523861, or a few metres to the south near the site of Orsi Tower/Battery.

The windmill shown in the image might therefore be one of the two that existed on St. Michael's Bastion. Since the only record of a windmill in Ricasoli seems to be based on this engraving (as per The Malta Windmill Database), I believe that this is an error and that there never was any windmill inside the fort. In fact, Stephen C. Spiteri's detailed sources about Ricasoli do not mention a windmill. Do you agree that we should delete the Fort Ricasoli Windmill from the windmills list?

Based on your detailed reasoning I agree that the sources of the netherlands website may be at error sometimes but in good faith. You can remove the windmill and if you have time add the coordinates. I am currently inserting and uploading more monuments. Kindly help as well when younhave some time. Ghaxaq, Qrendi, Zurrieq, Zejtun, etc.Continentaleurope (talk) 16:51, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
