Neue Pinakothek version?

It is quite uncertain which collection this artwork is part of. The main work is a fresco in the Neues Museum, Berlin, cf. de:Neues Museum (Berlin)#Vestibül und Treppenhaus. The Bavarian State Painting Collections, maintainer of the Neue Pinakothek in Munich don't list it under their works of Wilhelm von Kaulbach. However, Zeno.org lists an oil on canvas version of the motif as in the Neue Pinakothek, so does malerei-meisterwerke.de. The Institut für Kunstgeschichte of the LMU Munich lists a version "Öl/Leinwand, 137.5 x 172.5 cm, Stuttgart, Staatsgalerie". Artigo has a Munich and a Stuttgart version.

The Staatsgalerie Stuttgart actually holds two versions now:

  • Inv. Nr. 918: Öl; Leinwand; Höhe: 137,5 cm; Breite: 172,5 cm; ausgestellt in der Staatsgalerie Stuttgart; erworben 1889
  • Inv. Nr. L 1477: Öl; Papier; Höhe: 36,5 cm; Breite: 44 cm; Depot; Leihgabe aus Privatbesitz seit 2011
