  • I notice that according to the world "map", showing blue coloring in regions with a WMF "chapter" organization, there is no chapter in North America. However, in the list of chapters, I noticed the Wikimedia New York Chapter. Might want to update whichever is incorrect.  :-)

Confusing map

[edit]

I just discovered this map, and I must say it is a work of some confusion. That the United States is the same shade of gray as most of Africa makes no immediate sense (I understand that there is no "chapter" in the US, but we might want to think about having the US as a separate color than the non-chapter countries), and calling one set of colors "blue" and another set "teal" while having the rest in... what is it... "blue-gray"? Something? also makes no sense. I can't even detect any "teal" countries on the current map? If there are none, then maybe this part of the description should be removed until such time as there are. It does no good here otherwise. If you want to make a map like this, you need to use colors that are more distinct from each other than blue and teal, you need to account for the areas you do not intend to discuss like the blue-gray parts (you can ignore the blue oceans!), and you need to somehow distinguish between the US, where the organization is based, and Tanzania, where there is no current chapter, because the casual observer (i.e., me) thinks it must be some kind of mistake and that therefore your whole map is probably wrong somehow. Please consider some revisions. Thanks! KDS4444 (talk) 18:03, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
