Shaded area

[edit]

While this is a great map, the shaded area needs some clarifications. Its also unlikely to be correct as rebel groups and government forces moved throughout territories there are no fixed border. This can constitute original research.

Just a point for each clash from the database would be more appropriate. Probably a shaded area based on the regency level borders with frequencies of incidents. TPNPB and Indonesian security forces used the term 'red areas' for regions with more clashes. Envapid (talk) 11:34, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah the areas are my interepretation of the events. Guess you can make other maps if you believe it would be more appropiate. Borysk5 (talk) 07:23, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the clarification. Envapid (talk) 06:42, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy

[edit]

Unfortunately the map is inaccurate. The current conflict is largely concentrated in the Central Mountains of Papua. The OPM and the TPNPB do not have a presence in the Bird Head Peninsula nor Biak Island, for example. This map gives an impression that they are active there. The use of shades also gives an impression that the separatists have an effective control over the blue area, which is totally wrong. If it wants to highlight where the clashes have occurred, the map should have used dots instead.

I very much doubt there is significant OPM presence in Sorong, of all places. Juxlos (talk) 05:55, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
