Camera position is wrong

[edit]
  • The coordinates submitted refer to the 'object position (chapel) not to the camera position.
  • At a distance of 6.7 km in the community of Oedheim, only from the following places sight lines uninterrupted by hills can be drawn to the chapel:
  • Field name Hinter der Hart, between the Western community border and the confluence of Salengraben and Hirschbach, on the hill South to the Hirschbach valley, trig point with an altitude of 194.3 m
  • Field name Lohäcker, around the point where the overhead power line crosses the L 1088, altitude around 212.5 m
  • From anywheere else at this distance the sight line is obstructed by one of the hills left or right to the Hohe Straße between the Kocher valley and the Jagst valley.
  • No mountain name or field name called Neuberg to be found at a distance of 5.7–7.7 km in the community of Oedheim. (In fact I found none at all at any distance in the community.)
  • With regard to the emplacement of the staple, the cemetery and house to the right on the image, it must have been shot from the SSE or the SE of the chapel. Compatible camera points with unobstructed sight line:
1. Field name Alte Warte SSE of Untergriesheim, trig point at 232.0 m, distance to the object 2.5 km.
2. Field name Kornspitze S of Untergriesheim, trig point at 215.8 m, distance to the object 3.0 km. Doubtful, as surrounding trees and bushes could have obstructed the view.
3. Field name Seeberg E to the castle of Lautenbach, trig point at 244.6 m, distance to the object 8.5 km.
My guess is Nr. 3.

I have fixed the camera position. Anyway I have decreased the precision of the position due to privacy issues. The image has been taken from a house close to the given coordinates. I'm not familiar with Oedheim's field names, but "Neuberg" refers to the name of the land-use area (for example it is mentioned in [1]). I hope I answered your questions adequately. So the camera was on the hill left to the course of the Kocher river. I just corrected the distance camera–object, which was way off the true value (by about 1 km). 5⅔ km should be sufficiently imprecise for any privacy concerns, all the more so as the arc at this distance to the chapel cuts through a considerable part of the builded hill area.
The Neuberg isn't on any of the maps that I consulted, but now that the camera position is corrected, seeing the local topography should be enough to presume it's around of there.
Thanks. -- 91.57.253.226 22:29, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing the distance information. Indeed, this must have been some typo. --Kjunix (talk) 21:09, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
