"Was in the United States. According to legend, bought and then destroyed by the British." Fascinating -- is there any source for this? If it happened, it must have been recently enough that a good-quality colour photograph had already been made, which suggests it was fairly recent (probably since the 1960s) -- which makes the assertion seem less likely.
