The date here is most likely incorrect. I was a crew member on "The Old Pro" from 1985 to 1987 and there are some discrepancies between the photo and my old memories. One is on the ship herself. I was a signalman and we had a framework of piping isntalled on teh open deck aft of the signal shack to support more of that white awning the picture shows forward of the shack. That awning was rigged whenever we were in port for awhile to keep the temperature in radio central down, since it was right under that deck. And oh by the way the deck was white - same reason. Also the base - "Polaris Point" looks too different from memory. All that white hardscape between the ships birth and where Marine Drive runs by out by the old missle wasn't there when I was. That combined with the presence of two Ethan Allen or George Washington class boomers makes this a much older photo than 1987. Maybe 77?
