This is not the Swiss design but very similar to the German one standardized by the DIN, cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_railway_clock, http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schweizer_Bahnhofsuhr, and http://3quarks.com/de/Bahnhofsuhr/. Please rename! --Stefantauner (talk) 23:25, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, this file certainly must NOT be renamed!
The Swiss railway clock was designed in 1944 by Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss engineer and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) employee for use by the SBB as a station clock.
After WWII it was adopted by many european railway companies, including the Deutsche Bundes Bahn, but that doesn't make it a German clock. You'll find this design in many variations (per country). I created this file to resemble the Dutch version (because I'm Dutch and I see this version daily during my commute). It closely (but not exactly) resembles the German version, much more than the Swiss version (wich has a closed roundell in the second hand).
But that doesn't make it a "Dutch railway clock" nor a "German railway clock". The concept is known around europe, in all its variations, as "Swiss railwai clock" and it's attributed to Hans Hilfiker.
So no, this file shouldn't be renamed. Also I'm reverting your change in the description, because it's inaccurate. Jahoe (talk) 20:50, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and... even in the first two references you mention yourself it's called "Swiss_railway_clock" and "Schweizer_Bahnhofsuhr". :) Jahoe (talk) 21:18, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
