Actually I am not sure, if the death of the vegetation is due to microclimatic conditions. Another alternative would be the sinking of groundwater level, but I do not know, if it could cause this kind of phenomenon. At least in this area groundwater levels have sunk. On the other hand, the death of young trees in the bottom of exactly this kind of kettle hole formations due to microclimatic conditions has been scientifically described before elswhere.--Urjanhai (talk) 12:30, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
