Au contraire! That leads to an misunderstanding, because Holland=Province and this flag only for this Province? The present name was chose for all Provinces in the Republic. The name schould not seen as the name for the flag! MVG --Sterntreter (talk) 06:18, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Well, according to nl:Hollandsche Vlag it was called "Hollandsche Vlag", but "Statenvlag" by the other provinces. Maybe that's a better name then? Also, it seems that these colours were in use before the existance of the Dutch Republic, so I think a more general name is better. Thayts (talk) 11:54, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Colors

Is there a point to this flag being a separate file from the current flag? It's my understanding that the red and blue weren't standardized until 1949, so this flag using brighter colors might mislead people into thinking that the Netherlands' flag used brighter colors until 1949 when what actually happened is they just defined the precise values. Should the colors not be retroactively applied to this flag instead of both being different colors? Pescavelho (talk) 14:03, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
