Lossless crops

[edit]

If images in the jpg format need to be cropped, it is preferred to do this in a lossless manner, without an additional compression step, which reduces quality. It may take a few more pixels from the edges, but the quality is better and it does not bloat the file size. One can use Cropbot. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 10:53, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I realised your crop was better than mine afterwards, it was difficult to detect it due to my inability to see the current file. I don't know why my upload was bloated, I thought it was sort of a good thing, apparently it is not. I removed my last revert from the file history, as it was not needed and I wanted to test deleting and restoring the file, anyways, to see if the problem with the non updated version would disappear (it did not).-- Darwin Ahoy! 11:37, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, testing image updating was also a reason why I uploaded a new version. This one has been stuck for a very long time. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 12:18, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
