Safi or Gudja?

[edit]

The file name suggests this might be the "Il-Gnien Tal-Kmand" in either Safi or Gudja. Please confirm that it should be in the List of monuments in Safi, Malta, and not in the List of monuments in Gudja, Malta. --Trilotat (talk) 18:43, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Trilotat and Continentaleurope: I believe that this is the garden in Safi, hence it is correctly identified. There were originally many more Ġonna tal-Kmand around Malta - records suggest that at least 21 were built. Many of these were destroyed and only the gardens at Lija, Għargħur, Gudja, Qrendi, Safi (Sir Alexander Ball's Garden) and Żejtun (Luqa Briffa Garden) still survive today. Perhaps these merit an article on Wikipedia. --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 13:45, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I went to Safi and it perfectly looked like that. Gudja garden is private and closed to the public. Lija Garden is now the plant biodiversity department. Zejtun garden and Qrendi garden are still very well kept. There is one in Birkirkara near a windwill which if it is one of them, is also closed. Another in Naxxar was in the whereabout of Palazzo Nasciaro. A garden in Zabbar existed and a plaque is still there. About the pic, again, I may be wrong if the photo was taken by people connected to the garden and if it is very similar to Safi Garden. At the very end, beyond the exit, I can see a wall. There is a wall if front of Safi exit but not that of Gudja.Continentaleurope (talk) 13:53, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I wasn't in any way suggesting a change to the image name. I was only trying to clarify if the image (and location) should be linked from an article listing monuments in either Safi or in Gudja. Note, there's a link from both of those and it seems it cannot be in both places.

Renaming appropriate?

[edit]

@Continentaleurope: I have no personal experience with the location or the region, but I am surprised that a site in Malta would have an "actual and official name" of "Sir Alexander Ball’s Garden." Can you provide a source for this "actual and official name", so that I can appropriately cite in support of links to the image in wikipedia? Thanks, Trilotat (talk) 14:06, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes let me upload more photos of that garden and have it clear :).Continentaleurope (talk) 14:43, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
