Pls use this illustration with care, as the crystal lattice shown in the illustration is a fcc (face centered cubic). This is not the correct crystal structure for silicon. Silicon has the same crystal as diamond which is a fcc with two identical atoms at 000;1/4 1/4 1/4 at each lattice point.
